Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and CloudPilar Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) for your use of the UnlockFocus iOS app (“the app”). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What UnlockFocus does
UnlockFocus helps you focus by blocking distracting apps and by letting you “learn to unlock” — completing short lessons or quizzes to earn access. You can set learning goals, write and scan notes, generate quiz questions, and optionally create an account to sync your data.
2. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for how you set up and use blocking, including which apps you block and for how long.
- You must use the app lawfully and only on devices you are entitled to use.
- If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
3. Focus-blocking limitations
UnlockFocus is a self-control aid, not a security or parental-control guarantee. Please understand:
- Blocking relies on Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls and works within Apple’s limits. It can be changed, paused or removed by anyone with access to the device and its passcode.
- Blocking may not cover every app, website or method of accessing content, and behaviour can change with iOS updates.
- The app does not guarantee that you (or anyone using your device) will be prevented from using blocked apps in all circumstances.
- Do not rely on UnlockFocus for safety-critical purposes.
4. Screen Time / Family Controls
The app requires your permission to use Screen Time / Family Controls to block apps. The apps and categories you select are managed by Apple on your device using privacy-preserving tokens; we cannot see your specific selection. If you decline or remove this permission, blocking features will not work.
5. AI-generated content
- AI quiz generation is optional and runs only when you request it and confirm.
- AI output can be wrong, incomplete or misleading. Questions and answers are generated automatically and are not verified by us or by subject experts.
- Do not rely on AI output for exams, medical, legal, financial or other important decisions without checking it yourself.
- You are responsible for the notes you choose to send for AI processing (see the AI and OCR Processing Notice).
6. Subscriptions, Free and Premium
- UnlockFocus offers a Free tier and a Premium subscription.
- Free includes core features with certain limits (for example, on AI quizzes, photo scans, notes and focus sessions). Premium raises or removes those limits. The current features and prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions are sold and billed through your Apple App Store account. Full terms, billing, renewal and cancellation are covered in the Subscription and Refund Policy.
7. Acceptable use — no misuse
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful, harmful or fraudulent purpose
- Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the app or our systems (including Supabase or the AI Edge Function)
- Upload content that is illegal, infringing, or that you have no right to use
- Use the app to harass, harm or deceive others
- Abuse the AI or OCR features (for example, mass or automated requests)
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the notes, goals and other content you create. By using the sync and AI features, you grant us permission to store and process that content only as needed to provide the app (for example, to back it up to your account or to generate a quiz you requested). We do not claim ownership of your content.
9. Availability and changes
- The app and its cloud features are provided “as available”. We may update, change or discontinue features, and we may perform maintenance that temporarily affects sync or AI.
- Some features depend on third parties (Apple, Supabase, OpenAI, Google) and on your internet connection.
10. Termination
- You may stop using the app at any time and delete it. You can delete your account as described in the Account Deletion Policy.
- We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the app. Where practical and lawful, we will give notice.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that blocking or AI output will meet your expectations.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss arising from your reliance on blocking or AI output. Our total liability in connection with the app is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) for the app in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of INSERT GOVERNING LAW, e.g. England and Wales, and the courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
